Preface

Bhagavad Gītā is one of the greatest contributions of this
country to the mankind. It contains precious lessons for an
individual to face the reality of life as it emerges from time to
time throwing difficult situations and decision-making
dilemmas. In addition to giving us guidance to face such
situations, Gītā raises the discussion to a higher plane,
thereby, clarifying to us the real purpose of life. In a
characteristic style unique to the Divine incarnation Lord
Krishna, the text through a combination of drama, logic,
introspection and empirical validation of known ideas helps
us understand the need to evolve our own self.

Gītā is a versatile text and it provides a multi-dimensional
perspective. For instance, one can read it purely from a
spiritual angle. At another level it can serve as a religious text
extolling the virtues of the Supreme Brahman through a
medium of bhakti. Quite interestingly the text can also
provide a host of ideas and solutions to address vexing
problems that ordinary mortals face every day. Therefore, it
is no wonder that a wide array of people cutting across
nationality, domain of interest, age and gender have found the
Gītā a great source of inspiration for them.

This work is a humble attempt to bring out some of the
interesting messages that Gītā provides for people who are in
the thick of their professional career. There is a great desire
amongst such professionals to know the value of such texts so
that it not only provides an insight to such otherwise
inaccessible texts but also helps them take greater interest in
pursuing these texts in the future. I hope this book will serve
such interests. Some chapters of this book have earlier
appeared as a monthly feature in Sadguru’s Blessings, a
monthly spiritual magazine brought out by Sri Adi
Shankaracharya Sharada Lakshmi Narasimha Peetam at
             Hariharapura, Chikmagalur District, Karnataka, INDIA.
